Maryna Bazylevych and Anita Carrasco have just returned from the 114th Annual Meeting of the American Anthropological Association in Denver, Colorado. They both presented their research papers entitled "Demystifying Wellbeing and Health Threat: Categories of Risk Among Young People in Ukraine" and "Autism and the Barriers to Becoming a ‘Participant’ of ‘Culture’" respectively.
For our graduating seniors, we brought back information from 10th Annual AAA/NAPA Careers Expo: Exploring Diverse Professional Careers. The Expo featured anthropologists who have made careers in the public, private, and non-profit sectors and have shared the creative ways that anthropologists use their skills.
You can view flyers from this event posted on the Anthro Message Board just outside of the Anthropology Lab. The flyers feature organizations who have regularly hired anthropologists, including those with undergraduate degrees. The green flyer includes a chart of all organizations present at this event, and you are welcome to explore their missions and opportunities via web.
Heads Up: next year 115th AAA Annual Meeting is in Minneapolis (Nov.16-20), and the theme is Evidence, Accident, and Discovery. April 15th is the proposal deadline for sessions and posters. Speak to your advisors and professors, and don't miss this chance to showcase your first steps in Anthropology Careers!
