Service Projects

Service is the fundamental keystone in which the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity was founded on. The fraternity hosts many service events for the community as well as providing assistance to other organizations within the surrounding community. All members must participate in service both in and outside of the fraternity events.

Blood Drive

Alpha Phi Omega hosts two blood drives each year, one in September and one in January. Working with the American Red Cross, the two blood drive co-chairs and their committee organize the entire drive. Promoting the drive, recruiting donors, setting up the donation space, comforting donors, providing food and drink, and communicating with the employees as well as the donors are all the responsibility of the blood drive committee.
The APO blood drive brings together many people in the Luther community including students, faculty, and staff as either donors or volunteers. It is an awesome opportunity to meet new people and to be a part of a great cause.

Food Drive

Alpha Phi Omega holds two food drives each year, one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. We gather food and monetary donations for the Decorah Community Food Pantry. This brings together the Decorah and Luther community.

Other Service Work

Alpha Phi Omega also has a history of working with other great organizations in Decorah such as Seed Savers Exchange, ArtHaus, and the Humane Society of NE Iowa.
On the Luther campus, APO is involved with Caf to Community, Luther Serves, and Christmas Cheer.
