Potential Careers

Graduates with an Asian Studies minor can pursue a variety of professions or graduate studies programs. They can choose careers with the U.S. Government as Foreign Service Officers, or work for other governmental agencies, such as the CIA or Immigration and Naturalization Services. Students with an Asian Studies minor and language proficiency may also work in the private sector with businesses that focus on trade with Asia, or with multi-national corporations, while still others may pursue careers with non-governmental or non-profit agencies that focus on Asia. Some students go to Asia to teach English or work, and continue improving their language skills in order to prepare themselves for graduate studies in Asian Studies, Asian History, Asian Languages and Literatures, Anthropology, Geography, or International Affairs, to name a few.
