Celebrating the wide range of creative and scholarly pursuits among Luther's faculty and staff, Luther College is hosting the fourth annual Faculty Research Symposium, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in Valders Hall of Science Room 206 on the Luther campus.

After the brief welcome session, interdisciplinary panel presentations commence at 10:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Valders Room 206 and in the Franklin W. Olin Building Room 102. At each panel, three to four faculty members from a range of disciplines, like biology, English, anthropology and women and gender studies, will present their research under a common topic. Panel topics include "Deviants and Dissidents," "Moral Multiplicities," "Pathways and Processes," "Doing Research," "Harmony and Healing" and "Creative Non-Frictions." Presenters cover a range of current issues like women's representation in politics, terrorism and religious coexistence, and English as a status marker.

A companion event to the Student Research Symposium held each spring, the Faculty Research Symposium provides a forum for Luther faculty to share and discuss their research, projects and passions with the broader Decorah community as well as with Luther students, faculty and staff.

The event, organized by Luther faculty members Ben Moore, Todd Pedlar and Amy Weldon, closes with a multi-tiered performance-featuring faculty from the music and visual and performing arts departments at 6:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Studio II.
