Boötes and Corona Borealis

The bright asterism associated with Boötes appears as a kite spreading above the very bright star Arcturus. Arcturus can be found by following the curve of the handle of the Big Dipper - "arcing to Arcturus" - until you come to a quite bright star. The stars of the kite asterism are labeled in this image. The curl of stars to the upper left of Boötes is Corona Borealis, with the brightest star Alphecca marked. This entire region of the sky is rich in galaxies but they are distant and, thus, faint and challenging to observe.
