Description of object: M72 is located in Aquarius near the Capricornus border. In fact, it is much more closely associated with the primary asterism of Capricornus than with the primary asterism of Aquarius. The cluster is smaller and more difficult to resolve than many of its neighbors. the Saturn Nebula (NGC 7009) lies less than 3 degrees northwest of M72
