Most of you will remember the annual visit by St. Microbe in Microbiology, the stories Dr. Tjostem would weave into his presentation of biological concepts, and the many other traits that made him an outstanding biology teacher. He also served as a mentor to a number of students involved with a variety of research projects. It is this aspect of his contribution we wanted to honor in setting up the John Tjostem Undergraduate Research Fund (JTURF). This fund will become part of our endowment and the annual income will be used to support undergraduate research projects in biology.
