Class of 1950 Fall 2010 Letter

Fall 2010

Dear Friends,

The Christiansens have resigned their role as class agents. We want to give a big THANK YOU to Dagny and Holgar for keeping the class of '50 in touch and up to date. Great job. THANKS.  I have been asked to assume that role.  For a guy who is usually lost for words, it will be a huge task.  I hope that I will be able to share all the news and information just the same.

Our daughter in Eagan had family plans for us, which limited our time on campus during homecoming. Even with the limited time it was great to see many of you and say "hello" to a good number.  I don't know the exact number from our class who were present, but the group that was present for the noon lunch was great.  I know of no better way to gather with friends than with a good meal and a cup.  Just like old times. The program and awards were the highlights. Thanks.

President Torgerson always meets and greets the people that are there.  This year he shared the fact that funds are down, most likely because there are fewer students this year. I’m sure that the recession may have kept some students from attending Luther. The college would be grateful if each one of us would support the college financially with any amount that we can.

Also, we must remember the Distinguished Service Award given to Norman Rosholt. It is always great to see our fellow classmates receive awards for what they have done and what they have achieved.  CONGRATULATIONS NORM!

Don't forget your Annual Fund giving!

Each year nearly 10,000 alumni, parents, and friends support the Annual Fund with gifts from $3 to $25,000. Strong support from alumni helps Luther secure significant funds from foundations and corporations, and your gift each year helps us reach our goal of 30% alumni giving to the Annual Fund.  Here’s how our class—and surrounding classes—did in 2009:

Class of 1949    Total giving in 2009:  $37,493 from 53% of the class

CLASS OF 1950      TOTAL GIVING IN 2009:  $24,286 FROM 47% OF THE CLASS

Class of 1951    Total giving in 2009:  $43,371 from 43% of the class

Your gift can boost our class impact on current students!  Visit www.givenow.luther.edu to show your support.  Thank you!
