Summer 2019

Dear Class of 1989,

Remember 1989? Gas was 97 cents per gallon, a stamp was only 25 cents, the song of the year was “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” we were all watching the movie, “Field of Dreams,” and we graduated from Luther College! Believe it or not, 30 years have passed and we are looking forward to returning to campus and the Decorah bluffs for our 30th reunion. Coming back to Luther is so enjoyable, and it brings back fantastic memories. It is also the perfect time to satisfy those cravings for Mabe’s Pizza and a Whippy Dip treat!

Plans for our reunion have begun! We will celebrate on Saturday, October 5 at Silvercrest Golf and Country Club in Decorah. We will begin with a reception at 6:00 p.m. and a dinner will be served beginning at 7:00 p.m. Cost will be $30 and should be paid when reservations are made. You can make your reservation online at luther.edu/homecoming or you can send your payment along with the reservation form included with this letter. While you are online you may want to use the Online Alumni Directory at luther.edu/alumni/directory. If you do not already have a username and password, an account can be created by contacting the Luther Technology Help Desk at (563) 387-1000.

The Distinguished Service Awards will be presented at the Alumni Dinner on Friday, October 4, in the Dahl Centennial Union Cafeteria. Cost per person will be $30 and can be paid online when reservations are made. The Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place before our reunion celebration, starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 in the Nobel Recital Hall.

We are looking forward to a great event, but we need YOU to be a part of it. Please make plans to attend homecoming weekend as we celebrate our 30th year as alumni!
