Class of 2003 Summer 2018 Reunion Letter

Summer 2018

Hello Class of 2003!

One of my young coworkers asked me last week if you ever stop missing college. I sort of giggled at her, but knowing that I needed to write this letter to all of you I have been reminiscing about my four years at Luther a lot lately. I’ve been thinking about how some days the trips to Whippy Dip, Orange Day in the caf, and Corner Bar Tuesdays feel like yesterday, and other days it feels like 15 years was a lifetime ago. I’ve also been thinking/wondering about the adventures you all have had—grad school, travels, families, jobs, etc.—since we were last together. Mainly though, I keep thinking about how lucky we all were to start out together at Luther, surrounded by people and professors who cared so much about preparing us for what our future held.

So my answer to my coworker was that it changes and becomes less about missing college and more about appreciating what the time gave you. The friends, the memories, the experiences all shaped who we have become and gave Luther a special place in our hearts and minds. A lot has changed over 15 years, but we all have this common thread that joins us together.

Our official 15-year reunion will be Homecoming weekend, October 26-28. Our class of 2003 will celebrate its 15-year reunion on Saturday, October 27th in the upstairs banquet hall at T-Bock’s in Decorah. Our reunion will begin at 6:30 p.m. with hearty hors d’oeuvres served at 7:00 p.m. Cost per person will be $25 and should be paid in advance when reservations are made. You can make your reservation by returning the enclosed card, or go online to luther.edu/homecoming.

Distinguished Service Awards will be presented at the Alumni Dinner on Friday, October 26th, in Dahl Centennial Union Dining Hall. Cost per person is $30 and can be paid online when reservations are made. Two of our classmates, Kathryn (Haseman) Asplund and Jesse Reyerson, will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 27th. The ceremony will take place before our reunion celebration, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Noble Recital Hall, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

I hope everyone can join us, and catch up on where our adventures have taken us!

Soli Deo Gloria!
