Faculty Research Fellowship
About the Fellowship:
The Center for Ethics and Public Engagement offers a two-year long Faculty Research Fellowship. The Fellowship provides one course release per year for two years to allow the CEPE Fellow to conduct academic work (research or other discipline-specific work) on a topic that furthers the mission of the CEPE.
Professor Anita Carrasco is the current Faculty Research Fellow, for the academic years of 2021-23. The CEPE will provide support for her research on the role that hospitality and hostility play in shaping the experiences of Latinx and Hispanic students in the Luther community.  Her project will involve research collaboration with students, book group and panel offerings, classroom visits, and finally, a culminating presentation to the public.
CURRENT CALL OPEN FOR NEXT FELLOW:
The Center for Ethics and Public Engagement (The CEPE, pronounced “The Keep”) invites applications for a two-year long Faculty Research Fellowship. The Fellowship provides one course release per year for two years (2023–24 and 2024–25) to allow the CEPE Faculty Research Fellow to conduct academic work (research or other discipline-specific work) on a topic related to the CEPE’s mission. Fellows are expected to contribute to The CEPE’s public-facing communications during the fellowship. All tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply. The successful applicant will be chosen by the CEPE Advisory Board.
Note that the timings for the course releases must be negotiated with the Department Head, Provost’s Office, and The CEPE Director.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

- Project proposal (max. 1000 words), including:
- Explanation of project goals and plans for specific pieces of work
- Explanation of how the project corresponds to The CEPE’s mission
- Explanation of how the project benefits the Luther College community
- Timeline for completion
- Proposed plan to present project outcomes to the Luther College community and others across the Fellowship term.
- Academic CV
- Letter from Department Head (to be submitted by email directly from them) in support of the application, explaining staffing implications for the department and how the department plans to accommodate the course releases.
Deadline: 5 November 2022; Applicants will be notified of decisions by 31 December 2022.
