Malta and the Mediterranean

Program sponsor: Luther College; program based in Sliema

Program dates: Late January to early June

Enrollment: 10-12

Coursework includes Paideia 450: Ethical Issues in the Mediterranean; Maltese History and Culture; a travel course, Exploring Malta & the Mediterranean; additional classes taken at the University of Malta, and an optional Service Learning class.

Eligibility: Must have successfully completed a minimum of three semesters of study prior to the start of the program with a GPA of 2.5 or above and be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

Program fee: Luther comprehensive fee, technology fee, and health and wellbeing fee, as well as a $1,500 program fee. Fees cover tuition, room/board (except during program vacations), group travel in the Mediterranean region, and study abroad travel insurance.

Financial aid: Students should refer to the Financial Aid website for information on financial aid eligibility. Students who receive Pell Grants as a portion of their financial aid package are also eligible to apply for a Gilman Scholarship (competitive). Information and applications are available at
