Program Dates and Costs

The Earth and Environment in Italy program is an off-campus program administered by the Luther College Center for Global Learning. We welcome applications from Luther students and from students at participating ACM colleges.

The 2019 Earth & Environment in Italy program will begin on August 5, 2019 and end on Oct. 28, 2019.

Program Costs

Luther Students: Luther students pay the Luther comprehensive fee, plus international airfare. The comprehensive fee covers tuition, room and board, and program travel. Contact the Center for Global Learning for additional details.

Luther students participating in the Earth and Environment in Italy program will be billed through Luther as if they were on campus. A $200 non-refundable deposit will be due shortly after acceptance into the program. This deposit secures a place in the program; it will be applied toward the program fees. A student who cancels after Luther has already made financial commitments to the program will have to pay any unrecoverable expenses.

Non-Luther Students: As an ACM shared program, the total amount students must pay to participate in the Earth and Environment in Italy program varies from college to college, as does the availability of financial aid. Depending on the policies of your home college, charges for this program may be based on the program’s cost, or may be based on your college’s tuition. Additionally, some colleges may assess special fees for off-campus study. You are encouraged to contact your home study abroad and financial aid offices to determine the way in which you will be billed by your institution and how you can apply financial aid to the program costs.

A $400 non-refundable deposit will be due shortly after acceptance into the program. This deposit secures a place in the program; it will be applied toward the program fees. If a student cancels after Luther has already made financial commitments to the program, you will have to pay any unrecoverable expenses.

For all students: Program costs are comprehensive, including tuition, full room and board at the Geologic Observatory of Coldigioco, all program field trip expenses and three month sickness and accident insurance. Students are responsible for their own airfare to Italy, passport fees and pre-departure medical costs (if any), and miscellaneous personal expenses while on the program, which may include independent travel during program days off and the mid-semester break.
