Today we woke up to plenty of snow thanks to an overnight storm and even more was coming in. We had planned to go to one of the mountain temples to learn about what ghost weddings are, but the roads there were too dangerous to travel. It was believed that one can only be happy once you are married and if someone dies without being married then there is a ritual that marries their spirit to another ghost. Luckily, Professor Kopf had a plan B and we ended up going to see some old castle ruins in the city. Everything there was beautiful and covered in a thick blanket of snow.
After our little detour, we spent most of our day traveling to our next location by train. We arrived at around 6:00 pm and it was an adventure to find the location of our temple guest house. Eventually we found it and were greeted with a traditional Buddhist meal that took a little deep thinking in order to eat because it followed a traditional vegetarian diet.
After eating our meal, we spent our time doing some calligraphy of some Buddhist scriptures and a personal wish. It will be exciting to see our calligraphy burned at worship tomorrow morning as this is how our wishes are believed to come true!
