Connect with Preus for National Library Week

Happy National Library Week! This week Preus is celebrating with libraries across the country inspired by the theme, “Communities Matter @ Your Library.” Be sure to visit us in person or online this week to explore the various ways the community cultivates the libraries here in Decorah.

A Look at the Other Libraries in Decorah
We know we live in a unique community here in Decorah and one way that uniqueness manifests itself is in the special libraries we have in the area. Did you know that there is another Preus Library in town? Learn all about it through display materials at Research Help. We’d like to especially draw your attention to the display Seedtime: From the Special Collections of Becker Library at Seed Savers Exchange put together by Bill Musser (librarian at Seed Savers) and our very own Preus student worker Paul Tuskowski.

Thursday Morning Snacks for March Book Madness Winner
A big thank you to all of the Luther community members who participated in the recent March Book Madness competition. This Thursday morning, we’d like you to join us as we honor the winning book—To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee—with lemonade and southern tea cakes at Research Help. (Respond to and share the event on Facebook here)

Book Sale
Of course, what would National Library Week be like without our traditional book sale? If you haven’t stopped by yet, we encourage you to browse the tables for a treasure or two to add to your personal collection. All purchases go to support the Preus Library collection.

New Ways to Connect with Library Alumni

Last, but certainly not least, we’d like to draw your attention to two new online networks with a special focus on library-related Luther alums. First is the new LinkedIn group Luther College Alumni in Libraries, Archives, and Information Science. This is space for Luther College alumni working in the library and archives fields to connect with one another and also provide perspective to Luther College students considering similar careers. Second, is the new Facebook group People of Preus. This is an online gathering space for all current and past Preus Library staff to connect, reminisce, and share the library love.
