Building Vision Update

The Building Vision team would like to highlight some of the changes that have occurred in Preus Library since last spring. Construction for the Digital Media Center is well under way, with completion of the building phase expected later this fall. A new classroom space was created on the Lower Floor since the ICN Room (Room 100) will become the Digital Media Studio space. Portions of the collection were shifted to make room for the new classroom and for the Digital Media Center. Furniture from Olin and the ICN Room will be utilized in these new learning spaces. We purchased more of the movable tables and chairs for the Hovde Room, allowing for greater flexibility and functionality for classes and meetings. Collaboration with the Dean's Office created a pool of carrels that are available to emeriti on a check-out basis. Student focus groups were held last spring to gather feedback on how to improve group study rooms and there are suggestions under consideration. We have six new multi-speed bikes and all-new bike locks thanks to a Sustainability grant written by SPOKES. There is also a new service area that allows SPOKES to repair the bikes on site near the library.
