Fight Brain Freeze, Warm Up in the Library

Starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8th, Luther faculty, students, and staff are invited to celebrate the freedom to read by participating in the following:

Save a Book from the Flames!

Visit Research Help to find a display of frequently banned and challenged books.  Challenge yourself to read a title that’s new to you. When you check out a book from the display, you will receive an official Preus Certified travel mug with a packet of hot cocoa (while supplies last) and you will also receive an entry in our J-Term “Fight Brain Freeze” contest where we will draw weekly for hot prizes and two grand prizes-- for students a $30 gift certificate to the Luther Book Shop and for faculty/staff participants 2 tickets to attend the Center Stage production of Fahrenheit 451!

Spark Conversation on Facebook!

Join the conversation about Fahrenheit 451, censorship, and literature on the Preus Library Facebook page.  Watch for and respond to special picture conversation prompts and you can win a Preus Certified travel mug with a packet of hot cocoa!

Be a Part of the Art!

Check out the Fahrenheit 451 Project mural at Research Help. Become a part of it by answering the question: “What piece of literature/music/art, etc would you be willing to commit to memory so it was not lost?” Write your idea on one of our brain cutouts and add it to the mural. Mural pieces will join with others from around the community and be displayed in the CFL for the February 21st Center Stage performance.
