Patricia Ann (Barber) Taylor, 1981

PATRICIA ANN (BARBER) TAYLOR of Chicago, died Dec. 2, 2013, age 54.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Taylor, affectionately called “Ann,” was born to Timothy C. Patton and R.V. Barber, both deceased, Feb. 17, 1959, in Clinton, Mississippi.

At an early age, Patricia accepted Christ and joined Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. She later chose Monroe Missionary Baptist Church in Bellwood, Illinois, as her church home.

Patricia attended Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary School and Visitation High School in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from Visitation High School, Patricia attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She graduated with honors, with a triple major in English, Black Studies, and History. While attending Luther College, Patricia was voted president of the Black Student Union. After obtaining her B.A. from Luther College, Patricia was accepted and attended Law School at Ohio State University.

In 1982, Patrica married the love of her life, Gerard Lamont Taylor, and to that union, two children were born, Miss and Mister.

Patricia was gainfully employed by Morton Salt, Incorporated, as Executive Assistant to the company’s CEO, until she became ill. Whenever you saw Patricia, “Miss Revlon,” she was always elegantly dressed and made up to perfection. She loved people and would do whatever she could to help anyone. Patricia was proud of her role as an activist in her community. Some of her favorite past times included reading, crocheting, shopping for bargains, and above all, spending time with her family.

On Monday, December 2, 2013, after a long illness, God called Patricia home to be with him at 5:35 p.m. She leaves to cherish her memories; one daughter, Jennifer C. Taylor, Chicago, Illinois; one son, Gerard L. Taylor II of East Lansing, Michigan; one granddaughter, Malia Mae Taylor of East Lansing, Michigan; eight brothers, Henry L. Patton of Chicago, Illinois; Arthur J. Curry of Clinton, Mississippi; Thomas (Frances) Barber if Chicago, Illinois; Timothy (Katherine) Barber of Lansing, Michigan; Jimmie L. Barber of Chicago, Illinois; Leon (Diane) Carr of Clinton, Mississippi; Charles (Gail) Carr of Chicago, Illinois; Richard Larry of Los Angeles, California; three sisters, Ollie (Eddie) Adkins of Irvington, N.J.; Sarah F. Barber of Chicago, Illinois; Carolyn (Kenneth) Johnson of Bloomington, Illinois; one uncle, Peter (Emma) Martin of Chicago, Illinois; two aunts, Rebecca (John Curtis) Robinson of Jackson, Mississippi; Bettye (Charles) Speed of Las Lunas, N.M.; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
