Roger A. Erickson, 1957

ROGER A. ERICKSON, age 84, of rural Blair, Wis., died in Yuma, Ariz., on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. He was born in Black River Falls, Wis., on December 17, 1929, to I.J. and Mabel Erickson.

A graduate of Blair High School and Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, Roger taught High School Business Administration in Mauston and Augusta, Wis.

Roger and Sandra, his wife of 54 years, purchased the family farms between Blair and Whitehall where they raised their five children. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Roger served for many years on various Boards including Union Bank of Blair, Blair School Board, Trempealeau Electric Coop and Dairyland Power Coop, and, he was a member of the Church Council at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Whitehall.

Roger enjoyed woodworking, woodcarving, stained glass projects, fishing and gardening.

Roger is survived by his wife, Sandra, five children, Gail (Jim) Davis, David (Sonja) Erickson, James Daniel (Janine) Erickson, Lisa (Bill) Gappa, Sherry (Hank) Zwart and four grandchildren, Mathew and Thomas Gappa, and, Hannah and Peter Erickson. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Donald Wayne and Robert.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.
