The Dorian Choral Invitational Festival is held each year as a way to provide top-quality performing and listening experiences for entire high school choirs. This festival is often held in conjunction with the Luther College Nordic Choir Tour.
Four choirs from the upper Midwest are invited by our choral faculty to attend the festival for an entire weekday. The festival is held off-campus in a different region every year. Here are the most recent locations the festival was held:
2020 - Kenosha, WI
2019 - Iowa City, IA
2018 - Des Moines, IA
During the festival day, the combined voices of the high school choirs along with the Luther College Nordic Choir, create a large festival choir which works with the Luther College choral faculty on four select pieces. The four choirs will also individually work with choral faculty on pieces that they have prepared for the day.
The festival concludes with a concert that will feature each individual choir, the festival massed choir, and Luther College's very own Nordic Choir. The concert is a ticketed event.
