Symphony Orchestra International Tours

Music ensemble tours provide an enriching and immersive opportunity for students to learn actively, live purposefully, and lead courageously through sharing music and local culture.  Ensemble tours promote the musical excellence of the Luther College Music Department to audiences both near and far.

Dating back to the 1970s, Symphony Orchestra completes a month-long residency in Vienna, Austria every four years. This residency includes daily rehearsals, coursework, and visits to museums and other cultural sites in Vienna. In the evenings, students attend operas, ballets and concerts at the city's Konzerthaus, Staatsoper and Musikverein.

The most recent Vienna residency occurred in January 2019.   Symphony Orchestra will return to Vienna for another residency in January 2023.
