I have been teaching in the Religion department since 2001. Some of the courses I teach include Introduction to Biblical Studies, The Bible and Christian Faith, R.A.C.E., Clamoring for Change, and The Color of Change (a Paideia 450 course). I also teach several study abroad courses, including courses to Costa Rica, Ghana, and South Africa.
My teaching and research interest include biblical studies, religion and social justice, the social construction of religious meaning, and race-religion-and-politics. I am currently researching the power, politics, and meaning behind the rhetoric of “change,” as well as the role of Christianity in fostering social “change.” I've created the blog "Clamoring for Change" as a space to invite others to help me think out loud about the meaning of change.
In addition to academic publications, I contribute regularly to Medium, the Luther College Ideas and Creations blog, and to Sojourners online.
