Exploring the Driftless Region

Participants exploring Dunnings Springs, one of many unique parks in Decorah, Iowa.

Luther College is located in a beautifully rugged and geologically unique area known as the Driftless Region of the Upper Midwest, punctuated by deeply carved river valleys and high bluffs. The Driftless Area trips will use the Pine-Bluff 4-H camp located just outside of Decorah as a home base from which to explore the immediate area surrounding Luther College and the Upper Iowa River.

Daily activities will be organized and facilitated by two student leaders and include but are not limited to the following: high ropes course, swimming, canoeing, hiking, and team building activities. Evening activities will include cooking, games, sand volleyball, skits, campfires, and small-group conversations relating to college life, identity, and culture.

Students will spend three days in community sharing stories and engaging in meaningful conversations about their hopes, fears, identity, and culture, within both small and large groups of students led by experienced student leaders.
