A religion major will prepare you for seminary and any kind of ministry in two ways. First, our major will provide you an excellent grounding in biblical studies, biblical languages, and theology. Second, our major will help you understand religious diversity in the U.S. and globally by providing courses that might not be offered at some denominational seminaries.
At Luther, you can explore every major religious tradition, engage in the theory and practice of interfaith dialogue, and explore a variety of topics at the intersection of institutionalized religion and politics, culture, or science.
Our department also offers off campus and study away opportunities to visit places of worship located anywhere from here in the Midwest to the Middle East to South and East Asia. Our major will provide you the opportunity to explore religious themes, traditions, and practices in the widest possible context.
