About the Camp

Luther Tennis Camp will emphasize drills, shot selection, playing high-percentage tennis, target serving, and competitive opportunities that are designed to challenge campers and improve their overall skill level. Campers will be exposed to a variety of situations that occur during the course of a match. Mental toughness and new ways of breaking down an opponent will give you more confidence in future matches!

Luther College men’s and women’s tennis team members will assist Coach Strand. The student-to-staff ratio is 6:1.

A renovation of the outdoor tennis courts in the summer of 2017 marked the beginning of a new era for Luther College tennis. The college’s 12 courts were replaced using post-tension concrete and resurfaced using a state-of-the-art method resulting in a more durable, stable and consistent playing surface. In 2022, the college’s indoor court were updated with new high quality materials resulting in four courts to compliment the outdoor courts.

Tennis Camp Staff

Adam Strand
Camp Director

Adam Strand is heading into his eleventh summer coaching Luther tennis camps. Coach Strand played key roles for Norse Tennis during his time as a student-athlete at Luther. After college, he has gained valuable experience as a tennis teaching pro, head high school coach, and head college coach.

Luther Tennis has a rich tradition of success with 32 Iowa Conference titles for the men and 30 for the women. Coach Strand hires skilled and experienced Norse tennis players to assist with camp instruction. Camp will be held on Luther’s newly constructed post-tension concrete 12-court outdoor facility. Luther also has a 6-court indoor facility on campus. Under Strand’s leadership the Luther Coaching Staff has received the Iowa Conference ‘Coaching Staff of the Year’ recognition for the women in 2016, 2017, and 2019; and in 2019 for the men’s team. Coach Strand looks forward to bringing his many years of experience to this year’s campers!
