Responsible Investment Advisory Committee
Luther College Responsible Investment Advisory Committee formation, charter, news release.
Renewable Energy
Luther has made major investments in various forms of renewable energy to heat, cool, and power the campus.
Transportation
Luther’s investment in gasoline-electric hybrid sedans reduced greenhouse gas emissions from our fleet of passenger vehicles by half. Further reductions will be made through car and bike-sharing, shopping shuttles, break buses, and the use of local public transportation.
Climate Action
Luther’s Climate Action Plan requires the college to reduce its carbon footprint 50 percent by 2015, 70 percent by 2020, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
Energy Conservation
Luther’s Energy Conservation Program seeks to reduce energy consumption 5 percent per year—3 percent via energy efficiency projects and 2 percent through educational efforts aimed at behavior modification.
Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency plays a major role in reducing Luther's greenhouse gas emissions. Learn more about how Luther conserves energy on campus.
Green Buildings
Luther renovates and constructs new buildings at least to LEED Silver standards, and the college has made major investments in geothermal energy systems to heat and cool two major buildings on campus.
