Sympathy

To Renee Bay and family on the July 5 death of Renee's father Bernard "Bernie" Lips.

ARTICLES, CREATIONS, HONORS

Loren Toussaint and two Luther alums, Alyssa Cheadle formerly of Harvard and now at UCLA and Amy Owen of Duke University, published the article, "Forgive to Live: Forgiveness, Health, and Longevity" in the Journal of Behavioral Medicine. As the title implies, the article provides first-time evidence that forgiveness is associated with improved longevity and that this longevity benefit is offered through protections to mental and physical health afforded by forgiveness.

Kathryn Reed was soloist in the Harpsichord Concerto in D Minor and Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 at the Peoria Bach Festival at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria, Ill., on June 10.

Todd Green wrote an op-ed piece for The Huffington Post on July 5. It's called "Does Islam Need a Martin Luther?" It can be found at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/todd-green-phd/islam-martin-luther_b_884264.html.
