College Fleet Vehicles

When returning key packets after using a College Fleet Vehicle please return them to Facilities Services. For after hours/weekend returns, return them to the drop box located on the left hand side of the entrance door to Facilities, or first thing Monday morning.

School Performance Series tickets on sale

Luther College School Performance Series will bring two matinee shows, "ImaginOcean" and "Zorro," to the CFL stage for the 2012-13 season, Oct. 30 and Jan. 24. Tickets for the productions are on sale now at the Luther Box Office. Due to new sponsorship, tickets are now $2 per child. Area schools have priority for school matinees. Faculty to discuss online instruction at Luther

The Dean's Office is sponsoring a summer workshop designed to explore the place of online instruction at Luther. Faculty are invited to meet from 9 a.m.-noon on June 18-19 with facilitators Deb Fordice, head of the Education department, and Lynn Nielsen, experienced online and face-to-face professor of undergraduate and graduate students in UNI's College of Education. Read and discuss works recommended for Paideia 111/112

Faculty are invited to read books that our Luther colleagues have recommended for the first-year Paideia program, and to discuss together which of the works are particularly suitable for the course. The Bible: not for dummies

Religion 101: "Introduction to Biblical Studies" is required for all students at Luther, but how many faculty outside the religion department really know what this course entails? A two-day workshop, June 20-21, will give faculty a chance to be a Religion 101 student and see how one permutation of this course seeks to address critical thinking and its place in a liberal arts college of the church. Congratulations

To Greg and Kealy Lonning on the birth of their new baby girl, Shanae Lamoira Lonning. The Lonnings were chosen by her birthparents to adopt and raise her. Shanae was born in St. Petersburg, Fla. on May 23 at 6:46 a.m. weighing 7 pounds, 1.9 ounces and measuring 20-inches long. Shanae joins siblings Connor, Moran, Gable, Gara and Summer.

To Alice Palmer and family (Laura Palmer Lewis '99) on the June 5 death of her son-in-law, Christopher Gwyn Lewis, of Port Talbot, Wales, UK.

Employees transferring

Position opening

Campus programming technician: Full time, 12-month position. Offers technical assistance and support for events year round in the Center for Faith and Life main hall and recital hall. Position requires ability to read and implement contract riders, light and stage plots, knowledge of sound reinforcement/recording/streaming, theatrical lighting and a wide variety of multi-media equipment. Bachelor or associates degree preferred. Must be able to handle heavy lifting, heights and irregular hours with some nights/weekends. Contact <hr> for more information.

Director of public information: Full time, 12-month position. Skilled in performing variety of specialized duties: developing and distributing marketing and communications materials, training staff and student workers to produce communications products and services and performing administrative functions to increase the college's visibility and institutional image. Preference given to candidates with experience in training and supervising professional staff and student workers, media relations, emergency and crisis communications, basic graphic design and layout,  copy editing and proofreading, project planning and timeline development, and who have a personable demeanor, good organizational skills, and ability to be a team player. Salary commensurate with experience. ARTICLES, CREATIONS, HONORS, ETC.

Dan Davis and two Luther students will be conducting underwater archaeological research this summer in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey. The expedition is sponsored by National Geographic and can be followed live beginning in July at http://www.nautiluslive.org.

Jim Martin-Schramm presented "Non-Profit Institutions and Community Wind Projects" at the annual meeting of the American Wind Energy Association, Windpower 2012, in Atlanta, Georgia on June 6.

The Luther Ultimate Flying Disc Association competed in the Ultimate USA Division I National Tournament, held May 25-28 in Boulder, Colo. Luther Ultimate went 2-2 in pool play claiming the second seed in the pool to advance to the round of 16. The team ended the tournament tied for fifth place.

Bethany Krepela's article titled "A Mentor? Who, me?" appeared in the May 30 issue of the Associated of Lutheran Development Executives "Wisdom Wednesdays" blog for development professionals. Seeking temporary housing for families

We are looking for housing for participants of the Movement Fundamentals Coalescence, July 18-27. Some of our participants are bringing their kids/families to participate in Lutherlag and are looking for housing which is more family-friendly than the dorms. If you will be traveling that week and would be willing to provide your house for some of these wonderful folks, we'd be so grateful. Dozens of Dresses Day June 13

Anyone who can sew, iron, cut or provide fabric is welcome to join Dozens of Dresses Day, Wednesday, June 13, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Baker Commons.

Patterns, directions, laughter and encouragement provided. Bring your sewing machine (or serger) and sewing tools and a sack lunch. Coffee and tea provided.

East Side Masonry Materials sale

Public sales of East Side Masonry Materials will be held at the Luther College storage site on Pole Line Road, Monday-Saturday, June 11-16, from 10 a.m.  to noon.

Hard fired exterior whole and half bricks, soft Decorah kilned whole and half bricks are available, along with a large quantity of native Platteville limestone that was part of the underground foundation of the school. A very limited number of irregular pieces of the Kasota Minnesota quarried limestone from the above ground foundation of the former Decorah East Side School, along with a few clay tiles, single and double wide, are available.
