Free yoga for faculty and staff

Learn the basics of gentle yoga with Sonja Arneson-Ecklund of Sonja | Wellness & Yoga during this free lunchtime class for staff and faculty. Held Mondays from 12-12:45 p.m. in Hovde Lounge in the Library, attendees will release muscle tension and increase strength and flexibility while relaxing and rejuvenating the body and mind. Renovation Update

Hats off and platefuls of thanks from the Cabinet to the Norse Culinary Team for managing a full complement of summer visitors on top of an extensive renovation of the cafeteria servery and the C-Store/Marty's area. Sodexo is investing $1.5 million in the renovation project, due to be completed in late August.  

Iowa Private College Week, Aug. 5-9

Luther College will again participate in Iowa’s annual Private College Week which is scheduled for Monday-Friday, Aug. 5-9. Morning and afternoon sessions take place each day.

Each day at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., the college offers an academic fair where students and parents have the opportunity to meet with faculty and staff about Luther’s academic programs. Able to spare a half hour for one or more of the sessions? Contact Amy Noel, 387-1429 <noelamy>. Amy and Kevin Kraus will coordinate coverage so that we have representation from as many departments as possible at each of the 10 breaks.

Flexible spending account reimbursement checks

Flexible spending account reimbursement checks will not be processed the week of July 24 due to a system update at Midwest Group Benefits. Normal check processing will resume on Wednesday, July 31.

Marjorie Wharton presented a paper "Francis Poulenc Created a Poetry Cycle?" on June 20 at the conference Rethinking Poulenc: Fifty Years On. The international conference took place at Keele University in Stoke-on-Trent England.

Nick Gomersall presented his paper on "Testing a Procrastination Model with Data from a Large-Scale Writing Competition" last May, at QQE-2013, a conference held in Thailand.

Career Services Interim Director Appointed

Luther welcomes Brenda Ranum as the Interim Director for Career Services for the 2013-14 academic year. Brenda previously worked in the Career Center in 2002-04, and since then has worked with the Iowa State University Extension Service. This past year, Brenda co-directed Luther's Nottingham program with spouse Professor David Ranum. She begins her duties Aug. 1

Volunteers needed: The Nordic Fest lefse booth is seeking volunteers for shifts over the Nordic Fest weekend, July 25-27. Volunteers needed to cashier, flip lefse, deliver lefse, organize the booth and help keep things running smoothly. Demonstrators also needed for rolling and flipping in the demonstration window. (Demonstrators are responsible for prepping their lefse before the weekend.) No knowledge of lefse making necessary.
