Google Calendar for facilities scheduling
The AdAstra room scheduling system is being replaced by a Google Calendar in early January. LIS has been working with Campus Programming and the Registrar’s office to create special facilities scheduling functionality in Google Calendar. Susan Peterson is meeting with schedulers in small groups to talk about the transition, demonstrate Google calendar if needed, and discuss the transition schedule. Please contact Susan if you use information in AdAstra and have not been contacted.
Chapel this week
Chapel will be offered daily at 10:30 a.m. during January. Mondays and Fridays will focus on reflections around music and preaching, Wednesdays will offer a chance to walk the Prayer Labyrinth, and Tuesdays and Thursdays will offer spiritual practices that invite the community to move from "Busyness into Openness," a theme we will explore further in February. Join College Ministries in chapel this J-term as we partner with the Wellness Program for a chance to BREATHE.
Monday, Jan. 6: Mike Blair, CFL Recital Hall
Tuesday, Jan. 7: Spiritual Practices: Yearn, CFL Recital Hall
Yearn: God yearns for us and works through our longings to call us into a new way of being. As we pay attention to our yearnings, we can notice the invitations hidden within them.
Wednesday, Jan. 8: Meditation and Labyrinth, CFL Main Hall, available 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m
Thursday, Jan. 9: Spiritual Practices: Pause, CFL Recital Hall
Pause: Pauses aren’t only important for our own well-being, they also increase our capacity to love others. Pauses can help us to respond with compassion, rather than simply react, to our busy world.
Friday, Jan. 10: Kent Annan, Remembrance of Haiti's Earthquake, CFL Recital Hall
Musicians: Bill Nathan, Walnes Cagnas (St. Joseph Family in Haiti). Kent Annan is author of "After Shock" (2011) and of "Following Jesus through the Eye of the Needle" (2009).
Monday, Jan. 13: Amy Zalk Larson, CFL Main Hall
BREATHE in J-term
College Ministries and the Wellness program encourage you to take a breather this J-term. Do this 12 times during J-term and earn a $10 Luther gift card. Cards to track your breaks are available from College Ministries, CFL 106.

And finally...
January is International Brain Teaser Month. Try the following... we'll post answers next week. (If you can't wait, email <julie> for hints or the answers.)
1. It is well known that there are seven months with 31 days - January, March, May, July, August, October and December. February is always the shortest month, with only 28 days (or 29 days in a leap year). However, it is a little known fact that one month of the year is always longer than the others. Which month is it?
2.There’s one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends. What is it?
3. Only four words in Standard English begin with the letters “dw”. They are all common. Name two of them.
4. Where are the lakes that are referred to in the “Los Angeles Lakers”?
5. Beulah died in the Appalachians while Craig died at sea. Everyone was much happier with Craig’s death. Why?
6. Two children were playing checkers and each played five games. Both children won the same number of games yet there were no ties. How is this possible?
7. Imagine you’re alone in a boat with a large hole in the bottom. Sharks are swimming around you on all sides and the boat is sinking fast. How do you survive?
