To view departmental course evaluation reports, search for "Departmental Course Evaluation Report 2014FA" in either Google Drive or Google Docs. Clicking on the appropriate title will then open the document for review.

Dates are booking fast

Luther College Catering urges groups to book early for year end banquets and award ceremonies. Dates are going fast and and space is limited. Contact AmyJo DeCarlo, 387-1395 or <catering>, with requests.

Launching Luther Leaders nomination form

Launching Luther Leaders seeks new student membership from the class of 2017. Faculty, staff and current classes of L3 may nominate potential and current student leaders who want to develop their leadership skills and pursue a variety of leadership experiences. Requirements include a minimum 2.50 GPA and sophomore status. Nominate students online. Applications will be sent to the student to continue the process of selection for the certificate program. Deadline for nominations is Saturday, Jan. 31. Contact Kasey Nikkel, <kasey.nikkel> with questions.

Order a Valentine for that special person

Go to www.luther.edu/dining/catering/valentines and place a cookie or cake order by Friday, Feb. 6. There is an option to include a customized message. Phone scam

The LIS Technology Help Desk was informed recently of individuals receiving a phone call from a group off campus claiming to be responding to a service request related to their workstation. These callers used names of current employees of Luther and used compelling language. Please do not give out any information about the workstation in your office. If you have any questions, contact the LIS Technology Help Desk, 387-1000.

J-term chapel invitation: Drawing on the community patterns of J-term, College Ministries invites people into community daily during J-term at 10:30 a.m.

'A Delicious Confection'

Luther students in the January Term Introduction to Opera class will present the opera program "A Delicious Confection" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Noble Recital Hall. The program is open to the public with no charge for admission.

'Feminine Power and Spirituality'

"Feminine Power and Spirituality," an exhibit of art by Chicago artist Dayo Laoye, will be on display in the Center for Faith and Life Feb. 4-28. The exhibit, coinciding with Luther's Black History Symposium Feb. 11-12, is open to the public with no charge for admission. The 30 pieces in the exhibition represent Laoye's recent focus on the continuity of African traditions in the northern hemisphere.

Science division poster session Jan. 28

All are invited to the Science Division January Poster Session from 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the Sampson Hoffland Laboratories Carlson Atrium. Students will present their work from January Term. Refreshments provided by the Dean's Office.

'Contrasts for the End of Time'

Luther College faculty Xiao Hu and Eric Kutz along with guest artists Jubal Fulks and Scot Humes will perform "Contrasts for the End of Time," a recital featuring works for piano, cello, violin and clarinet, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5. Held in the Noble Recital Hall, the recital is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Lunch hour yoga series

Join Molly Lesmeister for a six-week yoga session Feb. 9-March 19. Two class options are offered: 11 a.m. on Monday and 1 p.m. on Thursday. Note the time changes from previous sessions. Classes are 50 minutes in length. Sign up for one class a week or both. Beginners are welcome. Class will be held in Studio II of the CFA. Props provided, no experience necessary. Registration is $18 for one class per week and $36 for two classes per week. Checks can be made payable to Luther College, payment due the first day of class. 50 Years of Women's Athletics luncheon Feb. 14

Fifty years ago Luther College sponsored its first varsity athletic teams for women. A luncheon in celebration of women's athletics at Luther will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 14, in Peace Dining Room. After enjoying lunch, individuals who participated or coached during the early years of women's athletics at Luther College will share their experiences. Additionally, special tribute will be payed to those individuals who were members on the first team in each sport.

Luncheon cost is $15, open to everyone wanting to celebrate women's athletics. Please RSVP online or at 387-1575, by Monday, Feb. 2.

Faculty Artist Series: 'Music in the Shape of a Pear'

Luther College's "Music in the Shape of a Pear" event features works by Luther's composer-in-residence, Brooke Joyce, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah. The performance is open to the public with no charge for admission and features solo, chamber and orchestral music composed by Joyce for his Luther colleagues.

Baseball hosts First Pitch Banquet with speaker Kent Stock '85

The baseball team is hosting the 2015 First Pitch Banquet on Saturday, Feb. 21, in Peace Dining Room with guest speaker Kent Stock '85. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m. Cost for the banquet is $30 per person or $50 per couple. All funds will be used to help cover the costs of the Luther baseball team's spring trip to Arizona. All are welcome to attend.

College archivist: The successful candidate will lead development and implementation of college archival and records management programs, share responsibility for defining and delivering research-based services to the faculty, students and staff, and provide other services related to the history and documentation of Luther College and the greater Luther community. Qualified candidates will have a master's degree in library and information science or archival studies from an ALA-accredited program, or related field; experience with metadata for and preservation of digitized and/or born digital materials; and familiarity with professional standards and emerging technologies in archives and archival practice.

Health Service administrative assistant: Responsible for initial contact with students who access Health Service. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or general education degree. Previous experience in a medical office setting strongly encouraged, or certification/education in administrative assistant with health care emphasis and medical terminology. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication and computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Billing and medical/CPT coding experience preferred.
