Luther College Woman's Club

Luther College Woman's Club meets at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, in Peace Dining Room. The program is titled "World Immigration and Up and Moving Arts: Yoga, Tai Chi and Qigong," with presenters Ruth Palmer, Marybeth Gallant, Diane Sondrol and Brenda Harris. Hear a treat from the music department, a brief business meeting, an update of campus news and enjoy refreshments. All are welcome.

Luther Art Exhibit: "Where There Were Many" by Hargrave and Ginsburg

"Where There Were Many" a collaborative "growing" exhibit by artists Katie Hargrave and Amber Ginsburg, and Luther College Art 111 3D Processes students, taught by Joe Madrigal, will be on display March 24-April 29, in the Wigley-Fleming Gallery.

A gallery reception for the artists will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30. The gallery reception and the exhibit are open to the public with no charge for admission.

'How to Teach Philosophy of Religion at a College of the Church' Timothy Knepper to present guest lecture

Timothy Knepper, associate professor of religion at Drake University, will present the guest lecture "How to Teach Philosophy of Religion at a College of the Church" at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in Valders Hall of Science Room 206. The lecture is open to the public with no charge for admission.

D'Ambrosio to read selected works

Author Charles D'Ambrosio will present a reading of selected works at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, in Olin Room 102. This addition to the Guest Readings series is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Gifts from Norway: Fifth annual Knut Gjerset lecture March 26

The fifth annual Knut Gjerset lecture, "Gifts from Norway," will be presented by Laurann Gilbertson, chief curator of the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26, in the Recital Hall of the CFL.

A reception will follow the lecture in Qualley Lounge of the CFL. The lecture and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.

Luther Music Department presents Handel's 'Messiah'

The Luther Music Department will present Handel's "Messiah" as the Spring 2015 oratorio performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27 in the CFL main hall. Tickets are free for Luther students , faculty and staff. The performance includes student soloists, Luther's Cathedral Choir, Collegiate Chorale, Nordic Choir and Symphony Orchestra, conducted at the performance by Allen Hightower, Luther director of choral activities and professor of music. A second performance will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.

Living history: A Holocaust survivor story

Esther Bauer will recount her harrowing experiences as a Holocaust Survivor in the lecture "Living History: A Holocaust Survivor Story" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in the CFL Main Hall. Bauer will share the story of her amazing, educated and liberated mother Marie Anna Jonas who was a medical doctor stripped of her ability to practice by Reich Citizen Law. Bauer speaks to students as often as she can so that they will "learn what happened, and see to it that it never happens again." This event is being sponsored by the Student Activities Council, Leadership committee. Tickets are $5.

FAS: Luther Piano Quartet to present recital

The Luther College Piano Quartet will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in the Noble Recital Hall. The program is open to the public with no charge for admission. The program opens with Mozart's Piano Quartet in G minor, followed by Antonin Dvorak's Miniatures for String Trio, and concludes with Robert Schumann's Piano Quartet in E-flat major.

Celebrate Easter with College Ministries

Faculty, staff and students are invited to a community-wide Easter Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in Decorah. Area ELCA congregations and pastors are coming together for this service. Luther students and Pastor Amy Zalk Larson will share in leadership. An offering will be collected to support missionaries Mary Beth and Bayo Oyebade in their work with those impacted with HIV/Aids in Jos, Nigeria. Email <ministry> for a ride to the service.

'Somewhere in America:' Sylvia Chan-Malik to present Sihler lecture

Sylvia Chan-Malik will present the lecture, "'Somewhere in America': Exploring the 20th-21st Century Musical and Cultural Expressions of U.S. Muslim Women" at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, in Olin Room 102. The lecture is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Women, Faith, and Finance Seminar

On Friday, April 10, Luther is hosting the 11th annual Women, Faith, and Finance seminar at the Hotel Winneshiek. Women of all ages are invited to come and learn more about financial management, retirement, estate planning and charitable giving. Cost is $30 or bring a friend, and each save $5. Dance Marathon

Luther College Dance Marathon is a student organization on campus that strives to provide a community of emotional and financial support for the children of the University of Iowa Children's Hospital, one of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
