Luther College welcomes Nebraska Wesleyan to Iowa Conference
Luther College is pleased to welcome Nebraska Wesleyan to the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the conference expands to nine member institutions. In a press conference Monday, July 20, IIAC officials announced that Nebraska Wesleyan University accepted an invitation to join the conference beginning the 2016-17 academic year.
Cause of power outage
The power outage on campus on Friday, July 24, was caused by a tree branch behind Olson Hall that crossed two phases of the overhead conductor that feeds campus. Alliant's system is set up to open the circuit in such a case, and then reclose into a fault up to three times. After the third time the circuit locks open, and stays open until the fault can be corrected. Luther Facilities staff found the area where the branch made contact with the wires and immediately notified Alliant Energy. Their crews were not immediately available, but came as soon as they could. They trimmed the offending tree and reset the circuit. Please contact Facilities Services with any questions or comments.

And finally...
Today is National Milk Chocolate Day. Dark chocolate may be trendier these days thanks to its touted health benefits, but today, give a little love to that sweet, creamy cousin we all grew up with. Chocolate actually has mood-enhancing benefits. That's right—chocolate can make you happy! This is due to the fact that it contains a stimulant called theobromine and a compound called anandamide. Now that’s a reason to celebrate!
