COLLEGE OPERATIONS

Christmas at Luther Parking Restrictions

In order to accommodate the large number of visitors anticipated for Christmas at Luther, the following parking restrictions will go into effect starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3. These restrictions will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7.

The general parking areas of the Library, Jenson-Noble and City Pool lots will be reserved for visitors. Students should move their vehicles from these lots to either the Regents Center or Farwell lot. The only exception will be vehicles displaying a commuter sticker; they may park in the commuter only row on the eastern side of the Library lot provided they vacate the spaces before 4 p.m each day the parking restrictions are in effect.

The faculty/staff parking area by Valders will be reserved for handicapped parking. Alternative parking includes the roadway from Sampson Hoffland to the main gate, Regents Center and Farwell lots. Starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, the lots on the east and west side of the CFL will be designated for handicapped parking only.

Cooperation with these changes is appreciated. Vehicles found to be in violation of these special event restrictions are subject to fine.

Drive safely this season

As we approach the holidays, now is a good time to prepare for the winter driving season. Snow, ice and windy conditions. Campus Safety and Security encourages the community to take these common sense steps to lower our risk: first and foremost, slow down and drive according to conditions. Remember the speed limits are designed for ideal road conditions. Here are some other suggestions from Campus Safety and Security to make travels safer.

  1. Slow down and drive according to current road conditions.
  2. Tires should be properly inflated and replaced when worn.
  3. Keep windshields clean and wear sunglasses to reduce glare and increase visibility.
  4. Carry emergency gear in the vehicle while traveling including, warm clothes and boots, a flashlight, shovel, water, high energy snacks, sand or kitty litter, and other emergency items.
  5. Keep a charged cell phone and carry a car charger and/or a portable charger in your car.
  6. Before driving in inclement weather call 511 to check road conditions and follow recommendations for travel.
  7. Let someone know the planned travel route and estimated time of arrival.

Something interesting? Let us know

Information and tips can be sent directly to Julie Shockey, <julie>. Thank you for your help in getting the word out about the awesome and amazing things Luther folks do.
