EDITORIAL COMMENT

And finally...

February is American Heart Month, a great time to commit to a healthy lifestyle and make small changes that can lead to a lifetime of heart health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Every year, one in four deaths are caused by heart disease, but you can make healthy changes to lower your risk of developing heart disease. To lower your risk:

  • Watch your weight.
  • Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.
  • Control your cholesterol and blood pressure.
  • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
  • Get active and eat healthy.

Ready to make some changes to lower your risk factors? Take advantage of walk-in wellness coaching for Luther employees. Stop by the Mott Room from 11 a.m.-noon on Thursday, Feb. 18, and Monday, Feb. 22, to discuss blood panel results, ask questions and get health advice from Luther's registered dietitian and certified health education specialist.

Busy during the walk-in times? Contact Wellness, <wellness>, to schedule an appointment.
