Thank you
A big thank you to Luther faculty for presenting a wide variety of engaging educational programs at Decorah Public Library over the years. Our community benefits greatly from your generous sharing of time, resources and expertise. In the past month alone we have been fortunate to host Carly Hayden Foster, Robert Shedinger and Paul Gardner for fascinating and well-attended lectures and discussions; over the course of the 10+ years that I've coordinated adult programming, I've had the pleasure of working with many other faculty members as well. Thank you, all, for being such a pleasure to work with and for enriching our library and our community. Our library patrons have no end of positive things to say about their experiences at your programs and their appreciation of the myriad opportunities afforded by having a stellar institution like Luther College in our town.

And finally...
2016 is a leap year and Monday, Feb. 29, is your extra day.
While a fixed date in the Gregorian calendar normally advances one day from one year to the next, the day of the week in a leap year will advance two days (from March forward) "leaping over" one of the days of the week. For example, Christmas fell on a Tuesday in 2001, Wednesday in 2002, and Thursday in 2003, but then "leapt" over Friday to fall on Saturday in 2004.
"Leap year means a free day. Go wild."
- Lawrence Chan
"Oh Ms. Lemon, you are missing out. Every four years you get a magical extra day...a day to do the things you normally wouldn't do, to take chances."
- Characters from "30 Rock"
