ANNOUNCEMENTS

Giving Day thank you

15 hours of giving + 12 hours of live streaming + nearly 1,800 gnome-tastic donors = $574,809, a record-breaking day for Luther's Annual Fund!

Thank you for going big AND going gnome. You did it! You made #luthergives16 the biggest day of Annual Fund giving ever (by far).

We are grateful for the 136 faculty and staff who made a gift on this historic day. We are also grateful for the incredible support of the President's office, the college cabinet, the publications team, Luther's hip social media team, photo and video bureaus, the web programming geniuses who pulled it all together, Sodexo for letting us take over Marty's and for all the yummy snacks that kept us going all day, the Visual and Performing Arts department, our very capable multimedia department who said YES to 12 hours of streaming, all who participated in the livestream, Student Senate, Student Philanthropy Council, and to the staff in Loyalty Hall who endured our gnome puns ("gnomenclature", little "gnome" facts, go big AND go "gnome", we could go on and on) and to the entire campus for making this a great day for the Luther family.

And finally, we are grateful for our alumni, faculty and staff, family and friends who showed their love for Luther with a gift on this special day and for the generosity of our challenge sponsors who stepped forward to make the day even more fun for everyone.

Many, many thanks!

-The Annual Fun(d) and Development team at Luther

EDITORIAL COMMENT

And finally...

March 15 is considered the Ides of March, and would have been the first full moon of the new year on the earliest Roman calendar. It was the date of the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 B.C.

St. Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on the traditional death date of St. Patrick. Want to know more about St. Patrick? Read our friend Philip Freeman's books "The World of St. Patrick" and "St. Patrick of Ireland."
