Solar charging event and 'Driving Change in the Driftless Area' film screening Aug. 12

Join the Center for Sustainable Communities from 2-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, for a demonstration and discussion about Luther's new Chargepoint electric vehicle charging station behind Olin Hall. After the demonstration and discussion, stay for a viewing of "Driving Change in the Driftless Area" in Olin 102. The great crepe reveal Aug. 17

Crepes are coming to Sunnyside Cafe this fall and the Luther community is invited to enjoy a special sneak peak of the treat. Visit Sunnyside Cafe between 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, to try a strawberry crepe or savory ham and cheese crepe for a one-time special price. Sunnyside Cafe is located in the Center for the Arts building.

Maryna Bazylevych presented discussant notes at the panels "Maternity Healthcare in Post-Soviet Settings: Ideologies and Institutions" and "Landscapes of Risk, Violence, and Health Behavior in Eight Ukrainian Cities" at the summer convention of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies and the International Association for the Humanities in Lviv, Ukraine, in June 2016.

In July 2016, Olga Michels participated in writing the 2018 national exam for organic chemistry. Joining 12 other professors from around the country, Michels and the committee collectively wrote 390 questions for the national exams. They then spent two days choosing the best 140 questions to be tried on two trial exams in spring 2017. The final product will be available for spring semester 2018 final exams across the country.

Spirit of Sodexo is Sodexo's annual corporate awards program honoring individuals and teams who demonstrate outstanding performance in support of Sodexo's mission and values and commitment to diversity and inclusion. The Norse Culinary Team won the Team Service Region and Segment Gold Award, which is the top award in the entire Universities Division. It's State Fair time! The 2016 Iowa State Fair will take place Aug. 11-21 in Des Moines. Get ready for Grandstand concerts, butter cows and 60 different types of food on a stick.
