Safety alert
A safety alert was sent out yesterday regarding an incident involving a Luther student reporting a sexual assault in downtown Decorah on Saturday night. Please refer to the email for more information and remember, "Luther College is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment where all members of the community – students, faculty, staff and visitors – are treated with respect and dignity. Therefore, the college will not tolerate sexual misconduct in any form. Sexual misconduct is not only an act against an individual; it is also an act that affects the entire college community. Acts of sexual harassment, sex offenses, stalking, dating violence and domestic violence are inconsistent with our educational mission." (Excerpt from the Luther College Code of Conduct, Student Sexual Misconduct Policies and Procedures.)
Luther College and the surrounding Decorah community are relatively safe places but we are not immune from the same problems that plague the rest of the world; incidents like this happen as sexual assault is a deplorable part of our culture. As a community we can work toward maintaining a safe environment where every individual is treated with respect.

Just Action's 'Black Lives Matter: A Declaration of the Value of All Life' statement

This commitment requires that we gather information related to all faculty, staff and student air travel miles paid for and/or reimbursed by the college, as well as college visitors flown to Luther on college expense. The Air Mileage Form can be found here.
Technology Help Desk tip of the month: enforcing workstation locking
On Wednesday, Oct. 12, ITS deployed an update to all faculty and staff workstations to improve security. The update will lock your workstation after 25 minutes of inactivity. To unlock your workstation, enter your Norse Key password.
If you use your laptop for presentations, to avoid your laptop locking during the presentation, move the mouse every 15-20 minutes. ITS recommends you lock your workstation every time you leave your work area, even if only for a couple of minutes. For details on locking your workstation, click here.
This additional measure is being implemented to improve security campus-wide. Contact the Technology Help Desk with questions.
