Student Senate Forum: Campus and Community Safety Town Hall

Student Senate invites the Luther community to a Campus and Community Safety Town Hall at 4:30 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 9, in Valders 206. Over the past several months, campus has experienced several reported sexual assaults, an attempted break in at the college apartments, the loss of a classmate and other situations that have rocked our sense of safety. Come meet with Luther and Decorah Police Department officials to engage in conversation regarding crime prevention and reporting. There will be opportunities for questions. All interested students, faculty and staff are invited to join in this important conversation regarding our community.

Admissions report available via KATIE

Several changes have been made to the weekly admissions report to make it more accessible and to provide a clearer picture of where things stand at various times throughout the enrollment cycle.

• The report will now be distributed monthly, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 2. Each report will compare the previous month's activity to the same period the last two years.
• Luther faculty and staff can access the report via KATIE approximately one week after the end of each month. To view the report, search for "enrollment data" in the Search Courses box in the upper-right corner of anyKATIEpage. If prompted to enroll, accept.
• The report includes the number of visits, applications, acceptances and denials, deposits and paid drops (students who cancel after paying their deposit).
• The Visits section will begin to distinguish unique visitors from total visits.
• Each report will include a brief narrative that highlights key areas of interest and explains timing or other variables that might affect the comparison to data from previous years.

Because the September and October weekly reports had limited data in key areas such as deposits, the initial distribution date for the report was moved from the first week of September to the first week of November.

National Conference on Undergraduate Research

Luther students are invited to submit abstracts for the 2017 National Conference on Undergraduate Research, to be held April 6-8, at the University of Memphis. Applications for the on-campus selection process are due by5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, and can be submitted here. Contact the Dean's Office with questions, 387-1005.

Relationship abuse advocate on campus

An advocate from the Domestic Abuse Resource Center with Helping Services for Northeast Iowa is available to consult on the first Friday of each month in the Counseling Services office from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m Appointment is not necessary; come in and ask to speak with the advocate. Strengths-based education workshop

The next Strengths Workshop will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 in Olin 213. Students will take the StrengthsFinder Assessment and participate in the Strengths-Based education workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for seniors, juniors and sophomores to participate in StrengthsFinder if they have not already engaged through a class, team or group during their time at Luther.
