COLLEGE OPERATIONS
Contribution limits
The IRS announces contribution limits for 2018. You can contribute up to $18,500 to your Luther College retirement account. If you're 50 or older, you're eligible to contribute an additional $6,000, for a total of $24,500. Contributing helps create a nest egg that may make it possible for you to retire on your terms. Go to https://www2.luther.edu/hr/faculty-staff/common-forms/ for a TIAA Salary Reduction Form (under Additional Employment Forms). Send the completed form to HR/Payroll, Main 25.
HR update
Both Cologuard screenings and the regular routine colonoscopies are covered under the UMR health plan at 100 percent if it is billed as routine. If the Cologuard screening report comes back as something abnormal, the next colonoscopy may be billed as medical in nature and would be subject to the member's deductible and coinsurance. If both screenings are billed as routine, the plan would cover both at 100 percent, but this is rarely the scenario. Please call human resources, 387-1415, with questions.
Free Friday morning open gyms
Wellness has partnered with NEI Food and Fitness and Upper Explorerland's Safe Routes to School Program to offer free Friday morning open gyms this winter. Parents and children age 0-5 years can participate from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 26 and Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23, for some open gym fun inside the North Gym. There is no admission fee, and balls, scooters, etc. will be provided. Contact, <wellness>, with questions.
HR notice: Save the date
A TIAA representative will be on campus to present an estate planning workshop from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14. More information will follow.

Built into the class schedule and rhythm of life at Luther, chapel is a time for the community to gather for song, reflection and fellowship at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the CFL Main Hall. Faculty, staff, students and guests serve as speakers, musicians and artists.

'Edible books' Jan. 25

'Martin Luther: Monk of Funk' Jan. 26
Imagine Fellow Timothy Radermacher '18, presents "Martin Luther: Monk of Funk," 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Decorah Lutheran Church. An original musical that tells the tale of Martin Luther, "Monk of Funk" is about a young priest who questions his faith and ultimately starts a religious revolution. Along the way, Marty encounters unlikely friends, unexpected foes and a few funky grooves. Loosely inspired by a true story, "Monk of Funk" is sure to be a reformation in syncopation. First Pitch Banquet Jan. 27
Kick off the Luther baseball season at the fourth annual First Pitch Banquet at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27. The event includes silent auction, dinner, season outlook from Coach Bryan Nikkel and keynote speaker Mike Grimm '93, voice of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. Blood drive is Jan. 30
Alpha Phi Omega is sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Brunsdale Lounge between Dieseth and Miller Halls. Those who donate will receive a free "We Challenge U" T-shirt while supplies last. Times of this event will depend on when appointments are schedule. To Barb Bohach and her family on the death of their mother, Carolyn Havel, of Calmar, Iowa. She died at home surrounded by her 10 children Jan. 6, and funeral services were at St. Aloysius Church Jan. 10.
To Renee Lillibridge and her family on the death of her mother-in-law, Adeline Lillibridge, of Decorah, who passed away Jan. 12. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Decorah Lutheran Church. Visitation is 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14.
Position openings
Full-time admissions counselor or assistant director of admissions: Primary responsibilities include coordinating the recruitment of students from a specific geographical region, visiting targeted high schools and attending select college fair programs. Extensive travel is required, and candidates must be able to work evenings and weekends when appropriate. Based on the level of experience of the successful candidate, the title will be either admissions counselor or assistant director. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, some computer knowledge and the ability to make public presentations. Previous experience in admissions or a related field is preferred, and an appreciation for residential, liberal arts colleges would be helpful. A bachelor's degree is required, and applicants must have a valid driver's license. Experience in sales, marketing, communication and education is highly desirable.
