EDITORIAL COMMENT

And finally...

The quarter-finals of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup is fast approaching (the U.S. team will play against France on June 28—get excited).

Magically, June 25 marks the anniversary of a special, and often overlooked blip in soccer history when the 1950 U.S. World Cup team won an unlikely victory over England's "Kings of Football." At the time, the U.S. men's team included a dishwasher, two mailmen, a teacher, a mill worker and hearse driver; a far cry from the roster of today's U.S. women's team!
