In order to help facilitate the move-in process, parking areas near the halls will be reserved to accommodate the movers. Special parking restrictions will go into effect starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24. The small parking lot south of Ylvisaker and the lot north of Valders will be reserved for unloading vehicles. High Street from Jenson-Noble to Campus House will be designated as a one-way street, west to east. There will be no parking on the south side of the street. The calculator is available here. Questions about your individual tax situation should be directed to your tax preparer. Updated W-4 forms, if necessary, should be submitted to the payroll office, 387-1135, in Main 118.
Use LCSecure Wireless network
The LCWireless5G network has been retired. Faculty, staff and students should prefer LCSecure on those devices that support connecting to it, like most computers, tablets and smartphones. The LCWireless network is intended for use by other devices such as game consoles or media streaming devices that don't support connecting to LCSecure. Both networks support 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz connections. For more information, contact the Technology Help Desk, <helpdesk>.

Luther College receives $27,000 grant to purchase surveying equipment
Only approximately 50 of the nearly 400 effigy mounds remain in the state of Iowa. The mounds tell the story of Iowa's prehistoric past, serving both as a visible reminder of the past as well as standing as a symbol of Iowa's heritage. Thanks to a grant by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, the Luther anthropology program is working to further document and conserve some of the remaining Effigy Mounds in Northeast Iowa.
Team Drives
Google's Team Drives, enabled earlier this year, allow departments, rather than individuals, to collectively own content in Google Drive. This solves issues around file ownership when people join or leave a department. When someone new starts, just add them to the Team Drive. When someone leaves, remove them from the Team Drive. For more information, see the Google Team Drives webpage or contact the Technology Help Desk, <helpdesk>.

Thousands fled to Thailand and were placed in refugee camps. Following the Indochina Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1975, Laotian refugees arrived in the United States in great numbers. Anika Nelson '19, is interviewing Hmong refugees that came to Decorah from Laos during the Vietnam War for her summer research project. Nelson is working with Destiny Crider on her project "We're Thinking About You: Decorah Hmong Refugees' Reflection on their Past, Present and Future."
