Our next meeting will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19. Administrators that the Marketing and Communications team are already aware of have received an email regarding this meeting. Staff and faculty who have not received an email and are managing a Luther office/department social media account should contact Megan Schwenneker <schwme04> to receive meeting details.

Reminder of employee wellness survey

The Wellness Program would like to learn more about the impact of the pandemic on Luther employees via a confidential survey, which employees received via email. Results of the survey will aid the Wellness Program in providing wellness related opportunities and resources to support campus, and provide opportunities for students to engage in research with Loren Toussaint and Chandra Jennings. The survey will remain open until Jan. 29 for those employees still wanting to participate.

Caring for God's creation

As one of the ELCA's 26 colleges and universities, Luther College is called to care for God's creation. EDITORIAL COMMENT

And finally...

Words from Martin Luther King Jr.

"Intelligence plus character — that is the goal of true education."

"Science investigates; religion interprets. Science gives man knowledge, which is power; religion gives man wisdom, which is control. Science deals mainly with facts; religion deals mainly with values. The two are not rivals."

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."

"True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice."

"Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way."

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

"Love is the greatest force in the universe. It is the heartbeat of the moral cosmos. He who loves is a participant in the being of God."

"Let no man pull you so low as to hate him."

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."

"Ultimately a genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus."

"We must walk on in the days ahead with an audacious faith in the future."
