Organizational shifts
Luther College welcomes Provost Lynda Szymanski and Dean Ashley Benson, who started their positions at Luther last week. These two new positions bring with them new titles and organizational structures. These organizational shifts are noted below:
In addition, a few other organizational shifts have occurred this summer:
Being Community updates
Luther College will remain at Level 0 Blue in the fall if no COVID-19 Indicators are activated and 70% of the campus community (students, faculty, and staff) has voluntarily provided proof of vaccination for COVID-19. Presently, 56% percent of faculty, staff, and students that are scheduled to be on campus in the fall have voluntarily submitted proof of vaccination for COVID-19. Employees who voluntarily submit proof of vaccination for COVID-19 through Luther’s Voluntary COVID-19 Vaccination Program will receive a stipend in appreciation of their efforts.
The Being Community website is the hub of information and inspiration for Luther's approach to the 2020-21 academic year. We invite community questions and feedback.
Ice Cream Day
All faculty, staff, and students on campus are invited to join us in the Caf for a free build-your-own ice cream sundae bar on Thursday, July 15. At 2 p.m. enter the back door of the Caf by the ice cream machine to enjoy a mid-day treat!
Welcome Center staffing in July
The Welcome Center in the Dahl Centennial Union will not be staffed during the month of July. Faculty, staff, students, and community members are encouraged to make use of the online directory for campus information during this time. Requests for service from the Welcome Center, such as parking permits, may be directed to the safety and security officer on duty through the automated answering service.
Upcoming ITS upgrade
On Friday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 14, ITS will be working to upgrade our Network Access Control System. There will be short periods of time during both of these days where users will be unable to connect to the LCWireless and LCSecure wireless networks. If you're already connected to LCWireless or LCSecure or using a wired connection, you should have uninterrupted network access.
Nordic Fest parade
Luther College faculty, staff, students, alumni, and their families are invited to represent Luther by walking in the Nordic Fest Parade on Saturday, July 24. This is an opportunity to participate in a fun community event and show your Luther pride—a free Luther t-shirt is available to those that need one! Please complete the Nordic Fest Parade 2021 form to participate.

And finally...
July 11 is National Mojito Day.
A mojito is a traditional Cuban drink consisting of white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint. Don Jose makes a good one or you could make your own! And here is a mocktail recipe that would be refreshing on the hottest of summer days.
You will find me by the pool with one in hand on Sunday...only it's a kiddie pool in my back yard and I am not laying out, rather I am playing referee between my two-year-old who is splashing our eight-month-old (remind me to use a spill-proof cup).
