Coronavirus updates
Please monitor the Being Community webpage for information connected to Luther College's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including changes in Academics and Student Life and guidance on Protection Protocols.
Parking restriction notice
On Saturday, Aug. 29 and Sunday Aug. 30, Luther will be filled with excitement as first-year students, and their families, experience the joy of moving into our residence halls. For many this will be an emotional experience as the students embark on a new adventure and parents see them on their way. In order to help facilitate the move-in process we will be reserving parking areas near the halls to accommodate the movers. Special parking restrictions will go into effect starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29. The small parking lot south of Ylvisaker and the lot north of Valders will be reserved for vehicles unloading for move in. High Street, between Jenson and Campus House, will be designated as a one-way street, west to east, so moving vehicles may park on the north side of the street. There will be no parking on the south side of the street. Faculty, staff, and students are asked to refrain from parking in these areas. Thank you for your cooperation in extending this welcome to the new members of the Luther community.
Office for Financial Services window
The OFS Window is now open! Our updated hours are 9-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. The dropbox is still available for deposit outside these hours. If you need to meet with someone, contact us at 563-387-1015 to set up an appointment. We request that you stop by the window before entering to help us minimize the number of visitors in our office at one time.
Mail Center hours
The Mail Center will extend its summer hours through the month of September. The Mail Center window will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and remain closed on Saturdays. We will continue to monitor the needs of the Luther student body and adjust our hours, in the subsequent months, as necessary. Contact Jeff Naatz <naatje01> if you have questions.
Document Center hours
Customer hours at the Document Center are temporarily changing to 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Wherever possible, we will deliver jobs around campus to maintain social distancing at the Document Center. Contact Jeff Naatz <naatje01> if you have questions.
Mail Center: Orientation Weekend, August 29-30
The Mail Center window hours are 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. to allow incoming students a chance to pick up packages and try out their mailboxes.
Oneota Market is now open
Oneota Market is now open 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday! Due to COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to allow personal cups or containers to be brought in.
CEPE book discussion
"White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity." As the nation faces a reckoning on racial justice, Robert P. Jones delivers a provocative examination of the unholy relationship between American Christianity and white supremacy, asserting that white Christians have long constructed and sustained a project of protecting white supremacy and opposing black equality. Join an upcoming book discussion (Sept. 22 and Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.) to prepare for Jones' virtual presentation to the community at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. Sponsored by the Center for Ethics and Public Engagement (CEPE).
Campus mail runs for Sept. 2020
For the month of September, the Mail Center will be restricting mail service to the morning mail run only, except for those departments who have made other arrangements. Overnight and express packages, delivered in the afternoon, will still be delivered the same-day whenever possible. We will continue to monitor the needs of the Luther faculty and staff in order to determine if additional mail runs will be required in the subsequent months. Contact Jeff Naatz <naatje01> if you have any questions.
Preus Library update
Preus Library reopened Monday, Aug. 24, to students, faculty, and staff only, with limited services. In support of safety and social distancing, face coverings are required, the stacks will remain closed, and seating will not be available at this time. Materials may be requested for check-out through the "Place Holds" feature of the online catalog or by contacting the Circulation Desk. Read the Fall 2020 Library Services Guide to learn more. Contact <library> or 387-1166 with questions.
