Let's Make a Quilt

Want to Make Peace?

Join us in a Quilt Making Project

"Educating for Peace"

Since the beginning of the Fall 2016 semester here at Luther College, WGST has had the honor of hosting the Regional Center for Women in the Art's Fabric of Peace Project. The Fabric of Peace Project is a collection of three quilts entitled the Fabric of Peace, Peace in the Community, and Interfaith Connection. The goal of the project and these quilts is to promote and recognize women as peacemakers through a traditionally feminist art form, quilting. The quilts will continue to be displayed here on campus through the end of October.  Then they will continue to travel around the country and world as an inspiration to make peace.

We are pleased to announce the incredible opportunity to make a quilt to add to the project; to represent what peace means and looks like to Luther College, Decorah, and the larger community. Please join us as we create a quilt by contributing a square as an individual or as a group. We encourage you to use your own inspiration and talent to create a square that reflects what peace means to you. And you don't have to quilt!  Women's art of any sort is welcome.  Spread the word, ask your friends, alum, and family to participate.  If you are interested in creating a square, and to receive a contract and square template and for more information, please email Wylie Cook at [email protected].
