Luther College organized its first basketball team in 1903. The 1916-17 team went undefeated, beating 6 college teams and 3 independent teams. The players included: guard Alvin Broustad, center Alvin J. Natvig, guard Arthur S. Natvig, forward captain Elmer Streeler, and forward Orlando W. (Pip) Qualley.
