Dear Members of the Class of 1940,

Luther’s homecoming was extra special this year. Our fall weather was spectacular, and the traditional weekend events—Friday evening alumni dinner, Saturday Hoslett lecture, class reunions, Flamingo Ball, Sunday worship and afternoon concert—were as good as ever. In addition, one could not help but notice the aura of something new happening, the beginning of an era marked by the inauguration of Dr. Paula J. Carlson, the college’s 10^th president, which served as the focal point of the entire weekend.
