The Luther College Class of 1970!  Can you believe it?!

Forty-four years ago we were new high school graduates, looking for summer jobs to help earn some money to go to a small school in the far northeastern corner of Iowa – Luther College.  We felt many emotions, including excitement, anticipation, uncertainty, and perhaps even fear for what our new experiences would be.  For some, like Carolyn, Luther was a huge school with over 2,000 students.  For others, like Bill, Luther was a small school, only two-thirds the size of his high school.  We came from many backgrounds and brought many different talents and skills with us.

Four years later, now 40 years ago, we graduated.  We still were different people with varied skills and talents.  But now we could all claim a common bond – the experience that is known as Luther College!  We are still tied together by that bond.  We are still thankful for what that experience has meant to us and how it has shaped and enriched our lives and families.

We have a chance to reminisce and relive a bit of that experience in just a few months at our 40^th Homecoming celebration.  We ask you to join us from October 8-10 in Decorah.  There will be all of the usual Homecoming events we remember – from food to football, conversation to concerts, and plenty of opportunity to renew long-time friendships and perhaps start a few new ones.  The highlight of the weekend will be our Class of 1970 reunion dinner on Saturday, October 9, at the South Winneshiek Country Club near Calmar.   We have planned a reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.  A Luther representative will attend to give a brief college update.  President Rick Torgerson and his wife, Judy, will also try to stop by and greet us.

So, let’s all gather in Decorah for this weekend of fun and fellowship.  We can see just how little we have changed in 40 years and how young we all still look!
